Los Angeles, Calif. --Â In day two of the Pac-12 Championship the Arizona Wildcats saw the end of their Pac-12 run. Their morning started with a 5-0 sweep by #2 UCLA that dropped them into the contenders bracket. They came back in the afternoon to take on #5 Cal where they fought hard to advance but eventually fell in a 3-2 final.

In their first match of the day the Cats took on second seeded UCLA. The threes and fives started the match out strong with Arizona earning the first point of the morning.
Carly Lowry and
Natalie Anselmo finished quick on court three falling to UCLA 11-21, 11-15. On court fiveÂ
Hope Shannon and
Olivia Hallaran fell in set one 16-21 but came back strong in set two to get close to advancing to a third. The pair eventually fell 19-21 giving UCLA their second point.
Alex Parkhurst and
Alana Rennie fought hard to give Arizona an advantage on court one but ended up finishing off the match 16-21, 19-21.Â

In the midst of the first three pairs battling it out, one Arizona pair was able to pull a set victory over UCLA. Twos pair
Sarah Blacker and
Brooke Burling pulled out a 21-17 in their first set and had moved on to a 10-6 lead in set two when the match was called in favor of UCLA.Â

vs. Cal
In their first match of the contenders bracket the Cats met the fifth seeded Cal for the chance to advance in the tournament. The first flight of threes and fives split the duel 1-1. Natalie Anselmo and Carly Lowry earned the first point of the match in favor of Arizona after three sets in which they took the first and third.
Mady Noble and Dana Parker were the second pair to earn an Arizona point. They finished in an impressive two sets with the first set barely reaching double digits for the Bears. They equalized the match at 2-2 with final set scores of 21-12, 21-17.
Sarah Blacker and Brooke Burling were the final pair on the beach, locked in a close battle on court two. After winning the first set and falling in the second the pair finished the match with a third set tie-breaker to determine the duel. The third set was back-and-forth for the two teams but ended in a California win to tip the scales.
