TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field opened up the 2021 Pac-12 Championships on Friday in Los Angeles, Calif., competing in various preliminary and final rounds as well as combined events.

Field Highlights
Jordan Geist improved his hammer throw PR by almost two feet to claim runner-up with a mark of 71.78m (235-6). His mark remains the second-best in school history. Israel Oloyede placed third in the event, throwing for 71.30m (233-11).

Kaelyn Shipley threw a mark of 50.32m (165-1) in the javelin throw to finish sixth overall.

Track Highlights
Umajesty Williams ran a time of 21.19 in the 200m prelims to qualify for the finals. He will race again on Saturday at 5:10 p.m. MST. 

Shannon Meisberger clocked a qualifying time of 57.77 in the 400m hurdle prelims and will compete in the finals on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. MST.

Alisa Lyesina ran a time of 4:30.28 and Peyton Heiden clocked 4:32.64 in the women's 1500m.

Multis Highlights
Skylar Sieben closed out day one of the women's heptathlon in fifth place with a score of 3,358. She opened with a PR of 13.84 to take fourth in the 100m hurdles and score 1,001 points. She also picked up a PR in the 200m, clocking 24.63. She will compete again on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Dominic Gehr will go into day two of the men's decathlon with a score of 3,415. His highest scoring event of the day was the long jump where he tallied 720 points. He also placed second in the high jump and sixth in the shot put. He will compete again on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
