Summerset Punches Ticket Prior to Day Three Postponement

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Day three of the NCAA West Prelims was postponed on Friday due to inclement weather. Prior to the delay, Justice Summerset punched his ticket to Eugene.

Summerset won the west region men's high jump after getting over the bar at 2.19m (7-2.25) and clearing each height in only one attempt. He will head to Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon to compete on Friday, June 11th at 4:30 p.m. MST.

Summerset was the Pac-12 champion in the high jump after clearing 2.20m (7-2.5). His season best mark of 2.21m (7-3) that came at the West Coast Classic currently ranks 13th in the NCAA.

The men were able to complete the field events on Friday before the postponement including Jordan Geist and Jakob Chamberlin who competed in the discus throw. Geist already claimed his spot in Eugene after qualifying in both the shot put and hammer throw. He threw for 69.56m (228-2) in the hammer and 20.11m (65-11.75) in the shot put to take third in both contests. Geist missed the cut in the discus, throwing for 53.91m (176-10). Chamberlin finished just behind him with a mark of 53.44m (175-4).

Friday's track events will be combined with Saturday's schedule with a predicted start time of 9:30 a.m. MST. An updated schedule of events will be released once it has been confirmed.
