Throwers Shine in Final Day of WSU Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Wildcats finish the weekend in Spokane with several athletes posting top-five performances in their events, including one first place finish in the women's shot put.

Day Two Highlights
Samantha Noennig threw in the women's invitational shot put today and came in first place with an amazing throw of 17.27m (56-08.00) that is currently the fifth best mark in the NCAA and second in the Pac-12 conference. She set a new arena record for The Podium only one day after her teammate, Mackenna Orie, broke the record in the women's open shot put. Orie would place right behind her teammate in the invitational with a second-place performance with a throw of 15.40m.

Jordan Geist returned to the Podium after winning the WSU men's open weight throw on Friday. He followed up the performance with a second-place finish in the Invitational's shot put with a throw of 19.29m (63-03.50). Two other Wildcats, Youssef Koudssi and Jakob Chamberlin, would place within the top-ten of the competition as well.

Chamberlin also competed in the men's invitational weight throw competition and threw a PR in the event to place himself in the top-five of the competition.

Day One Highlights
Jordan Geist won in the men's open weight throw with a throw of 21.75m. Not only was it an indoor PR for Geist, but also set the arena record for The Podium in Spokane and is now ranked 10th overall in the NCAA in the Weight Throw. To add to the top performances, Youssef Koudssi won the men's open shot put and Zach Landa took fourth. Jakob Chamberlin also placed within the top five in the weight throw and threw a new PR. Orie set the arena record the day befoe Noennig broke it in during her first place victory in the women's open shot put on Friday with a PR of 15.98m (52-05.25).

Talie Bonds was another Wildcat that took a top spot in Spokane. In the Women's Invitational high jump, Talie placed second with a jump of 1.79m setting another all-time PR, while Alexa Porpaczy and Diana Ramos placed third and fourth with jumps of 1.76m and 1.71m respectively.
