TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field ends their first day at the ASU Invitational in Tempe after grabbing several event wins and multiple finals qualifiers.
Talie Bonds lead the Cats with two first place finishes on the first day of competition.
Day One Highlights
Talie Bonds started the Wildcats off well with a win in both of her events. In the high jump, Bonds cleared an outdoor season-best of 1.79m before taking to the track and then finishing first in the qualifiers for the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.31.
Skylar Sieben and
Ajaysha Lewis also qualified for the finals in the 100m hurdles, while
Zachary Extine and
Dominic Gehr qualified for the 110m hurdles finals.
Jenica Bosko rounded out the sprints with a PR in her first event of the weekend, running a blazing time of 23.37 in the 200m dash to finish fourth.
Samantha Noennig found the podium for the second straight week in the discus throw with a throw of 53.94m (176'-11").
Mackenna Orie rounded out the top-five with a personal-best throw of 51.58m (169'-2").
Jakob Chamberlin threw a season-best as well in the hammer throw with a fifth-place finish after a toss of 53.43m (175'-3").
Grace Driskill ended the meet by obtaining a spot on the podium after running a 10:28.52 in the 3000m steeplechase for her second top-three finish of the outdoor season. Her time is the seventh-fastest time in program history in the steeplechase.
The second day of the ASU Invitational will kick off at 10:30 a.m. MST with
Jenica Bosko and company competing in the women's long jump. The running events will start at 3:00 p.m. MST with the 4x100m relay.
