STANFORD, Calif. -- The No.17 Arizona Wildcats (15-8) went 1-3 in the Pac-12 North Invitational this weekend. The Cats single win was a 5-0 sweep over Utah, with their losses coming against Oregon, USC and Stanford.

In their first match of the weekend the Cats faced off against the Oregon Ducks where they fell 4-1. Abby Russell and Dana Parker fought hard to a third set after taking the first and falling in the second but were unable to complete the win for Arizona. Maja Kaiser and Sarah Blacker pulled out Arizona's only win on court two, finishing in a quick 21-10, 21-19 to earn the Wildcats a point towards the duel. Ultimately the remaining three courts finished in favor of the Ducks giving them the win.

Against Utah, the Cats completed their sixth sweep of the season. Three pairs, Alex Parkhurst/Alana Rennie, Jasmine Safar/Dilara Gedikoglu and Kaiser/Blacker, were all able to earn Arizona points in two sets. Russell/Parker and Annie Kost/Hope Shannon were both forced into a third. The first pair, Parker/Russell, rallied after falling in the first whereas Kost/Shannon had to come back from a loss in the second. Both fought hard to complete the Arizona sweep. The match was ultimately decided by Kaiser/Blacker on court two and the sweep was completed by Kost/Shannon on court five. 

On day two of the tournament the Cats fell to USC 5-0. Courts one through four saw the match end in two sets with Safar/Gedikoglu and Parker/Russell both getting within a few points of seeing a third. Kost/Shannon were able to rally and force a third after winning the first and falling in the second but were ultimately unable to win the point for the Cats.

To finish the tournament, the Wildcats took on their host, Stanford. In the 4-1 finish in favor of the Cardinal, the Cats saw three courts finish in three and the remaining courts in two. Of the courts that went to three, one was successful in giving Arizona a point for the duel. Blacker/Kaiser won on court two after falling in the first and coming back to win the back two. Both Parkhurst/Rennie and Safar/Gedikoglu went to three but barely came up short for both.

The Cats will return to Bear Down Beach to host the Arizona Invitational. This tournament, hosted on April 15-16, will see match play against Southern Mississippi, CSU Bakersfield, Long Beach State and GCU.
