TUCSON, Ariz. — A five-run bottom of the fourth was not enough to push the Arizona Wildcats (21-10, 9-5) past the Washington State Cougars (12-18, 4-10) on Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field. The Cougs walked away from game two with a narrow 6-5 victory.
Arizona starting pitcher
Garrett Irvin gave the Wildcats six innings of work and allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out three. He did not factor into the decision.
Center fielder
Mac Bingham and catcher
Daniel Susac led the way on offense as the two combined to go 5-for-10 at the plate with one RBI apiece.
The Wildcats took advantage of a Washington State error in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. After the fielding blunder tied the game Arizona strung together three consecutive run-scoring singles to post a crooked number.
