EUGENE, Ore. — The Arizona Wildcats (35-19, 16-12) dropped their series opener to the Oregon Ducks (33-21, 16-12) on a final score of 10-4 on Thursday night at PK Park.
Arizona's offense piled up 12 hits and five walks, with four players posting multi-hit performances led by a 3-for-5 outing from second baseman
Garen Caulfield.
The Wildcats bullpen was also strong, allowing just three runs on four hits over their five innings of work. Right-handers
Dawson Netz and
Chandler Murphy, along with southpaw
Holden Christian, all posted scoreless innings of relief and allowed just one hit combined.
Starting pitcher
TJ Nichols was lifted after three innings of work. The sophomore right-hander struck out three and took the loss, moving to 5-4 on the year.
