EUGENE, Ore. — The Arizona Wildcats (35-21, 16-14) rally fell short in a 5-3 regular season finale against the Oregon Ducks (35-21, 18-12) on Saturday afternoon at PK Park.
Arizona scored three in the final two innings but could not climb all the way back to even with Oregon.
Daniel Susac picked up an RBI single in the eighth and
Tommy Splaine drove in two runs on a single in the ninth in the late effort.
The Wildcats bullpen posted a strong performance, keeping Arizona within striking distance all afternoon. The 'pen combined to hold the Ducks to just two runs on six hits while striking out five over the final 6.1 innings.
Left-hander
Javyn Pimental got the strong performance rolling with 2.1 scoreless, two-hit innings. It was tied for his longest outing of the year and was his second straight multi-inning scoreless appearance.
