TUCSON - Arizona sophomore guard Kailyn Gilbert has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
The honors are the first of Gilbert's career and are the first for a Wildcat since Shaina Pellington garnered the award on Feb. 21, 2023.
The Tampa Bay, Fla., native was the leading scorer for Arizona against both No. 5 Texas and Arizona State, averaging 22.5 points across the two games. The sophomore shot 83.3% from behind the arc between the two matchups, draining a pair of threes against Arizona State and making all three three-pointers she took against Texas. Her 26 points against Texas were a career high, and she scored 19 points in Arizona's dominant win over the Sun Devils on 7-of-10 shooting.
Gilbert is the team's leading scorer, averaging 14.7 points per game, and is third on the squad in rebounding with 5.0. She has scored 20 or more points in three games this season.
