Wildcats Sweep Trojans in Doubleheader

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (30-22, 12-17) swept a doubleheader against the USC Trojans (32-22-1, 16-13) on Friday at Hi Corbett Field, clinching a berth in the 2023 Pac-12 Baseball Tournament in the process.

The Arizona offense was red hot all day, led by outstanding performances from third baseman Tony Bullard and right fielder Emilio Corona, who combined to go 9-for-16 at the plate with eight runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, and eight RBI. Bullard and Corona each homered in both halves of the doubleheader and are now both sitting at 10 home runs on the year.

The Wildcats starting pitching was also tremendous in both games; right-hander Cam Walty (5-0) started game one while southpaw Bradon Zastrow (5-5) opened the nightcap. Both starters earned the win after combining to hold the Trojans to just five runs on 12 hits across 11.1 innings of work.

Freshman right-hander Casey Hintz made relief appearances in both games and allowed just one hit over 1.2 innings. Fellow righty Trevor Long worked the final two frames in game two and earned his fifth save of the year. Long now has 12 career saves, tied for ninth most in program history.

First baseman Kiko Romero swatted a home run in game one and tallied three RBI on the day giving him 78 on the year, tied for eighth most in a single season in program history.
