This marks the second time that four Wildcats earned spots on the ABCA All-Region teams and the first since 2012 when Kurt Heyer and Alex Mejia landed on the First Team while Seth Mejias-Brean and Robert Refsnyder earned Second Team picks. Arizona's four selections to the All-Region squads is tied for the second most among Pac-12 schools.
The ABCA All-Region teams are voted on by member coaches. First Team selections are automatically nominated for ABCA All-America honors, which will be announced this Friday, June 16.
Romero, a junior, set the Arizona single-season with 89 RBI to go along with his impressive .345 batting average. The Tucson native piled up 60 runs scored, 17 doubles, four home runs, 21 home runs, and drew 36 walks for a .441 on-base percentage. Romero's 24 multi-RBI performances led the team while his 25 multi-hit games were second. Defensively, the Wildcats everyday first baseman paced the team with 557 total chances and boasted a sparkling .995 fielding percentage.
Davis etched his name into the Arizona record books with 21 home runs, giving him 39 for his career and placing him third on the program's all-time leaderboard. The slugging outfielder led the team with a .362 batting average and tallied 71 runs scored, 17 doubles, two triples, and 74 RBI while drawing more walks (43) than strikeouts (40).
McClaughry, the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, also posted the best season of his career at the plate in 2023, hitting .325 with 71 runs scored, 23 extra-base hits, and 39 RBI. A multi-year starter at shortstop for the Wildcats, McClaughry finished his career with a senior season fielding percentage of .980 while turning 27 double plays.
Bingham, in his fourth season at Arizona, finished the year second on the team with a .360 batting average while also recording 68 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, and 51 RBI. While starting all but one of the Wildcats games in center field he posted an impressive .976 fielding percentage. Bingham's 27 multi-hit games were the most on the team and were highlighted by one of two five-hit games collected by a Wildcat this year.
