Women’s Basketball Rounds Out 2023-24 Roster

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona women's basketball has added five players to its 2023-24 roster. Courtney Blakely (Middle Tennessee), Salimatou Kourouma (Little Rock), Isis Beh (West Virginia) and Fanta Gassama (South Georgia Technical College) will all join the Wildcats as transfers. Skylar Jones joins Arizona's incoming class of freshmen.

Blakely, a 5-8 guard out of Gary, Ind., made appearances in every game as a freshman and sophomore and made 10 starts a sophomore at Middle Tennessee. She averaged 7.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in her second season with the Blue Raiders. In the team's win over UTSA she nearly achieved a triple-double with 11 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. During the 2022-23 season, Blakely accumulated 87 assists and 43 steals.

A 6-2 forward from Kati, Mali, Kourouma was the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Player of the Year and garnered First Team All-OVC honors. She averaged 17.6 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game across two seasons at Little Rock and led the team and league in scoring with 17.3 points per game in 2022-23. She was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team as a redshirt sophomore, averaging 31.3 minutes per game and 40.0% shooting from the field in that season. Her performances in the 2022 Sun Belt Tournament landed her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She has recorded three performances of at least 30 points and hauled in 19 rebounds in the win over Southeast Missouri State on Feb. 2. She joined the Trojans after a two-year stint at Grayson College, where she was named to the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference Team in 2021.

A 6-3 redshirt sophomore, Beh joins the Wildcats from Murray, Utah. She spent the previous two seasons at West Virginia, redshirting the 2021-22 season and playing in 27 games in 2022-23. She averaged 3.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in those games. Prior to her time in Morgantown, Beh went to Salt Lake City Community College for her sophomore season after spending her freshman year at UNLV. She was named to the 2020 Mountain West All-Freshman Team, shooting 52.9% from the field and making one start.

The final member of the Wildcats' transfer class, Fanta Gassama, comes to Tucson as a 6-1 center from Mataro, Spain. She posted a 29-point game in the Lady Jets' win over East Georgia State and averaged a double-double in her sophomore year with 13.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.

Skylar Jones joins the Wildcats as the final member of the 2023 recruiting class. She is rated four stars and is the 96th-ranked recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz in the class of 2023. Jones averaged 16.9 points and 4.9 rebounds as a junior and garnered 4A IBCA First Team All-State and AP All-State Second Team honors.
