BOSTON, Mass. – The Wildcats wrapped up the two-day River Hawk Invitational on Saturday with the completion of the men's events. The meet, hosted by UMass Lowell at the TRACK at new balance, began with the women's events on Friday where the Arizona Women excelled with seven top-three finishes and three wins. The Arizona Men kept it going on Saturday, finishing with an impressive 13 top-three placings and six victories.
"The number one factor this weekend was to get our potential NCAA Championship qualifiers to the championship site," said Head Coach
Fred Harvey, as the TRACK at new balance will host the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. "That experience for indoors is very important. We had a number of very good performances, with
Reinaldo Rodrigues and
Sailor Hutton having exceptional performances and personal bests in their respective events."

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
The Wildcats finished first and second in the men's long jump with
Reinaldo Rodrigues winning the event and
Pierce LaCoste finishing runner-up. Rodrigues posted a big indoor personal best leap of 25-4.5 (7.73m) and LaCoste jumped 24-3.75 (7.41m).
In the men's shot put, the Wildcats grabbed their second one-two finish of the day.
Zach Landa won the event with a throw of 59-11.75 (18.28m) and
Tyler Michelini finished second with a mark of 58-4 (17.78m).
Youssef Koudssi also placed seventh in the event.
Sir Jonathan Sims posted a huge personal best leap in the men's triple jump to finish second overall. Sims' jump of 51-7.75 (15.74m) bested his previous mark by nearly one meter as he just narrowly came in second.
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
The Wildcats started out hot with the men's 60m. Three sprinters advanced to the event's finals:
Trayvion White-Austin (6.79),
James Onanubosi (6.88), and
Tyson Tippett (6.92). White-Austin clocked the fastest overall time in the prelims. Then in the finals, the three Wildcats swept the event, finishing first, second, and third. White-Austin led the way with a time of 6.83, followed by Onanubosi (6.84), and Tippett (6.85). The podium sweep marked the second time this season that the Wildcats have done so, with the first coming in the season opener in the men's shot put.
Isaac Davis came away with the second Arizona win on the day in the men's 400m, winning the event with a time of 47.75. The senior sprint crew leaders of Davis and White-Austin both notched their first overall wins on the season.
In the men's 800m,
Cade Russo finished third overall with a personal best time of 1:52.52.
Evan Simmons also clocked a personal best time and placed eighth for the Wildcats.
Trayvion White-Austin then followed up his win in the 60m with a victory in the men's 200m later in the day. After breaking his own school record in the event last week, White-Austin won the day's competition with a time of 21.13.
Isaac Davis also clocked a personal best time, finishing in fourth with a time of 21.39 in the event.
James Onanubosi (21.52) and
Tyson Tippett (21.58) placed fifth and sixth overall as well.
In the men's 3000m,
Ian Sanchez Lopez dominated the field and won the event by over 14 seconds. He clocked a time of 8:11.78 in his first victory of the season.
The Arizona Men closed out the day on the track with a second-place finish in the men's 4x400m relay. The team consisted of

Christian Simmons,
Evan Simmons, and
Tyson Tippett.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will travel back to Albuquerque N.M., next weekend for the New Mexico College Classic on Friday and Saturday.
