TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Men's Basketball unofficially kicked off the 2024-25 season with their annual Red-Blue Showcase on Friday night inside the McKale Center.Â

The night began with Arizona's Adaptive Athletics wheelchair basketball game, which was followed by the introduction of the evening's hosts, Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye and Allie Clifton. After player introductions, the competitions started with the three-point contest. Four Wildcats participated in the competition: Carter Bryant, Anthony Dell'Orso, Liam Lloyd, and Caleb Love. Dell'Orso and Love made it to the final round, with Love winning the shootout on his final shot. Love scored 17 points in the final round to Dell'Orso's 16.Â
Following the shootout, four Wildcats participated in the dunk contest:
Tobe Awaka,
Jaden Bradley,
Carter Bryant, and
KJ Lewis. Bryant and Lewis made it to the final round of the competition, with Bryant taking the victory. He scored 59 out of 60 points with his two dunks of the final round. The contest was judged by Wildcat legends Frye, Jefferson, and Corey Williams.Â
The showcase ended with a scrimmage between the Wildcats, who split up into two teams. The Red team came away victorious, outscoring the Blue team 47 to 44. The Blue team led at the half, 29 to 25, in the back-and-forth competition.Â
Caleb Love led all scorers, totaling 19 points on the night for the Red team.
Anthony Dell'Orso recorded 15 points and six rebounds for the Blue team, including four three-pointers.
Tobe Awaka grabbed eight rebounds for the Blue team as well.Â
Up next for the Wildcats is an exhibition game against Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 21, at the McKale Center. The first regular season game for the team will be on Nov. 4, against Canisius University.
