Arizona Falls to ASU in Last Dual Meet

TUCSON, Ariz. - Swimming and Diving dropped their dual meet against rivals Arizona State 286-111 on the women's side and 227-73 on the men's side. 

The Wildcats kicked off Saturday morning's race with a win in the Women's 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.20, putting the Wildcat women in the lead over No. 21 ASU. 

Over in the diving well, Brooke Earley and Gage DuBois led Arizona on the boards, each going two for two taking first in the Women's 3-meter (341.63) and 1-meter (305.05) and the Men's 1-meter (391.05) and 3-meter (377.33). 

After dropping the 1000 Free, Arizona's women grabbed four crucial first place wins in the 200 Free (Julia Heimstead, 1:44.73), 100 Breast (Eleni Gewalt, 1:00.68), 50 Free (Julia Wozniak, 22.48) and 100 Free (Julia Heimstead, 48.73), placing them just behind the Sun Devils. 

Arizona's men trailed No. 1 ASU in each race, yet managed to secure several second and third place finishes to put some points up on the board.

Next Up

For the next three weeks, Arizona will prepare for the Pac-12 Championships taking place in Federal Way, Washington. The championships will begin with Women's Swimming and Men's and Women's Diving running from Wednesday, Feb. 28 to Saturday, March 2. The following week will be the Men's Swimming championships from Wednesday, March 6 to Saturday, March 9.
