Wildcats Make Return Trip to Cabo Collegiate

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – No. 9 Arizona Men's Golf will make its sixth appearance at the Cabo Collegiate this weekend as part of a loaded 15-team field, beginning on Sunday, March 3 at the Twin Dolphin Golf Club. The Wildcats won the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'i in its last outing two weeks ago for their first stroke play victory of the season. Arizona will utilize much of the lineup in Cabo San Lucas, which includes sophomore Yannick Malik who finished runner-up at the Burns Intercollegiate and earned Pac-12 Golfer of the Week honors.

"The Cabo Collegiate continues to grow into one of the marquee events in college golf, and we are eager to get out and compete alongside some of the nation's best programs," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We have played excellent golf in all three tournaments so far in the new year, and our momentum continues to build as we approach the spring. We know Twin Dolphin Golf Club well and our team's gameplan and confidence give us a great mindset going into the event. I am excited to see our guys come out in attack mode with every shot they hit this week."

The Cats posted a sixth-place finish at last season's Cabo Collegiate after placing in the top 10 in the event in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Arizona's best individual finish in its five years at the tournament was Chase Sienkiewicz last season who finished tied for second place at 5-under par.

Arizona has been on a tear for much of the 2023-24 season, beginning with a runner-up finish at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in October when Tiger Christesen won the individual title by shooting a program record of 19-under. The Wildcats won a match play title at the Copper Cup with victories over No. 4 Arizona State and UCLA to begin the new year before earning second place at the Arizona N.I.T. shooting the lowest team score ever at 50-under par.

A new development for the Cabo Collegiate is this year's medalist will receive a sponsor's exemption to play in the PGA Tour's World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, Mexico later this year.
