TUCSON - Three members of the Arizona Women's Basketball team have garnered Pac-12 media awards, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Helena Pueyo and Esmery Martinez were named to the All-Pac-12 Team, Pueyo tabbed a spot on the All-Defensive Team and Jada Williams was placed on the All-Freshman Team by the media.
Pueyo, the Pac-12's steals leader this season, is averaging 11.0 points per game in conference contests this year. Her steals average of 3.1 per game is good to rank her 13th nationally. The graduate student is 21st nationally in minutes per game, playing 36.4. She played 55 minutes in the triple-overtime win over Washington State, the only Pac-12 player since at least 1999-2000 to play that many minutes in a single game.
Martinez is averaging 11.2 points per game this year and is scoring 11.9 points in conference games. She is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 6.3 per contest. Martinez ranks fifth in the Pac-12 in steals per game with 1.8 and was named AP Player of the Week and Pac-12 Player of the Week following Arizona's sweep of the Bay Area schools.
Williams leads the Wildcat freshmen in scoring, dropping 9.5 points per game, and is second on the team in assists per game at 2.4. Her 14 points in the fourth quarter at No. 3 Stanford helped lift the team to its first road win over the Cardinal since 2001. She is the team's leading free throw shooter, making 84.9% of her foul shots.Â
