TUCSON, Ariz. — Five Arizona Baseball pitchers have been selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced recently. Right-handers
Cam Walty, Anthony "Tonko" Susac,
Dawson Netz,
Tony Pluta, and
Casey Hintz were all honored with selection to the All-District roster.
Both Walty and Netz were selected as finalists to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Netz and Susac are both two-time Academic All-District honorees.
Walty, who advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America, recently graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies while carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.59. The second-year Wildcat led the program and tied for the Pac-12 lead with eight wins on the mound this year, while his 3.29 ERA paced the team and ranked third in the conference. The veteran right-hander completed his Arizona career with the second lowest walk rate in program history at just 1.35 walks per nine innings pitched.
Susac, a two-time Academic All-District selection, just completed his third year at Arizona where he has carried a 3.73 GPA while in pursuit of a degree in Personal & Family Financial Planning. The Sacramento, California native made 21 appearances for the Wildcats as a junior in 2024 and led the team with three saves while striking out 36 across just 28.2 innings of work.
Netz, another honoree who advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration, boasted a 3.83 GPA while seeking a graduate degree in Real Estate Development this year. The right-hander graduated in 2023 with a degree in Business Administration, Business Economics and sported a 3.66 undergrad GPA to earn his first of two CSC Academic All-District nods. Netz finished his Arizona career with 94 appearances on the mound, the second most in program history, and an impressive 3.98 ERA.
Pluta, a sophomore from Illinois, earned All-District honors following a successful campaign on the mound while carrying a 3.90 GPA in pursuit of a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Pluta made 25 relief appearances for Arizona in 2024 and boasted a 3.07 ERA while earning a pair of saves and limiting opposing hitters to a .213 batting average.
Hintz, also an Illinois native sophomore, carries a 3.54 GPA following two years working towards admission to the Eller College of Management. The sidearm throwing right-hander led the Wildcats with 27 appearances and posted a 3-1 record with two saves and a 4.13 ERA.
Arizona's most recent CSC Academic All-American was outfielder Tanner O'Tremba, who earned the honors following a standout 2022 campaign. This marks the second consecutive season that Arizona landed five players on the Academic All-District team.
