TUCSON, Ariz. — Shortstop
Mason White and right-handed pitcher
Cam Walty have both been selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region teams, the organization announced this morning.
White was voted onto the West All-Region First Team, while Walty earned a spot on the West All-Region Second Team. As a member of the First Team, White will advance to the All-America ballot — ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 14.
Today's selections mark the first ABCA All-Region honors for both players, and the fifth consecutive full season that an Arizona player has landed on the West All-Region First Team.
White, a sophomore Tucson native, posted one of the best slugging performances on the west coast this season. The second-year shortstop swatted 19 home runs and drove in 65 RBI, marks that ranked tied for second and third in the Pac-12, respectively. White's 19 home runs are tied for the eighth most in a single season in Arizona history, while his 29 career long balls are two shy of breaking into the program's top 10. While starting in all 59 of the Wildcats games in 2024, White hit .305 with 55 runs scored, 31 extra-base hits, a .392 on-base percentage and a .603 slugging percentage. As the Wildcats everyday shortstop, White helped turn 31 of Arizona's 47 double plays. White also earned Pac-12 All-Conference honors and was selected as the MVP of the 2024 Pac-12 Baseball Tournament.
Walty, a senior who just completed his second season with the Wildcats, led Arizona's much improved pitching staff and earned today's honors on top his earlier Pac-12 All-Conference selection. Walty paced the team and the conference with eight wins while posting a 3.29 ERA and 75 strikeouts. He also found success in conference play, going 4-1 with a 3.34 ERA and 52 strikeouts across 10 starts. Walty was one of many Arizona pitchers who excelled at throwing strikes — his walk rate of 1.30 BB/9 registered as the third-best single season mark in program history. The right-hander was on the mound for both of Arizona's Pac-12 championship clinching games against Oregon State to seal the regular season title and against USC to secure the tournament crown.
White and Walty were both integral parts of an Arizona team that won 36 games, secured both the Pac-12 regular season and tournament championships, and earned the program's fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. Head coach
Chip Hale, who brought both players to Arizona, was selected as the 2024 Pac-12 Coach of the Year. The Wildcats were one of just four Pac-12 programs to land multiple players on the ABCA West All-Region teams.
