ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Arizona Track & Field will return to New Mexico on Friday and Saturday for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. The competition will feature some of the top teams in the nation and will be the first team scoring competition of the season for the Wildcats.
Â
The meet will be hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center where the Wildcats competed earlier this season for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational. On Friday, the competition begins at 11:00 a.m. MST for field events and 3:30 p.m. MST for track events. On Saturday, both field and running events begin at 10:00 a.m. MST. Both days of competition can be streamed on FloTrack ($)

Â
"This weekend will be the toughest challenge of the season for our program," said the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Fred Harvey. "We will see top 16 rated athletes in every event. We are peaking at the right time so this will be great opportunity to truly measure our program prior to the conference championship."
Â
The Wildcats are coming off a weekend full of exceptional performances. The team posted 24 personal bests, 11 top-three finishes, and three individual event wins at both the Stan Scott Invite and Multis and the Razorback Invitational. The majority of the team competed at the Stan Scott Invite and Multis, and
Hollan Powers was the lone wildcat to compete at the Razorback Invitational, where she placed third in the heptathlon.
Â
Emma Gates (high jump),
Tapenisa Havea (shot put), and
Zach Landa (shot put) were the three Wildcats to win events at the Stan Scott Invite and Multis. Gates and Havea both posted personal best marks in their wins. Along with his shot put victory, Landa also finished runner-up in the weight throw with a personal best mark. Additionally,
McKenna Watson finished runner-up in the 200m, clocking a time just 0.02 seconds off the school record in the event. The other podium finishers for the Wildcats were
Isaac Davis (600y),
Olivia Dillon (pole vault),
