Six Wildcats Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Arizona Track & Field wrapped up their indoor season on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
 
The Wildcats had six total competitors at the two-day championship meet held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. All six earned All-America honors, led by Emma Gates who finished fourth overall in the NCAA in the women's high jump.
 
On Friday, Reinaldo Rodrigues and Trayvion White-Austin both earned Second Team All-America honors. Rodrigues placed ninth overall in the men's long jump and White-Austin finished ninth overall in the men's 200m.
 
On Saturday, Emma Gates earned First Team All-America honors for her fourth-place finish in the women's high jump. Paris Mikinski finished t-10th in the event as well to be named a Second Team All-American. Additionally, Zach Landa and Tyler Michelini finished ninth and 15th overall in the men's shot put and both earned Second Team All-America honors.

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Emma Gates finished fourth overall in the women's high jump after clearing a height of 6-2 (1.88m). Gates cleared the height on her last attempt to finish in the top four and earn First Team All-America honors. The junior posted the highest finish by a Wildcat in the event at the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2013.
 
Her teammate, Paris Mikinski, finished t-10th overall with a clearance of 5-10.75 (1.80m). Mikinski earned Second Team All-America honors for her performance. The pair of Gates and Mikinski are the first two Wildcats since 2010 to both finish in the top 10 in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
 
Zach Landa finished ninth overall in the men's shot put with a throw of 62-10.75 (19.17m). Landa made the event's finals and his best throw on the day came on his third attempt. The Big 12 Champion is now also an All-American, as the senior earned Second Team All-America honors for his performance.
 
Tyler Michelini also competed in the men's shot put and was named a Second Team All-American. Michelini placed 15th overall in the event with a mark of 57-10.5 (17.64m) which came on his first attempt. The duo of Landa and Michelini are the first two Wildcats to earn NCAA Indoor All-America honors in the same season since 2007.

Overall in the team competition, the Arizona Women placed t-35th with five points and the Arizona Men DNP.

UP NEXT
This competition concludes the Wildcat's indoor season. Outdoor season is now in full swing, with the team competing at home next for the Willie Williams Classic on March 21-22.
