LONG BEACH, Calif. –  The Sand Cats dominated on the second day of the LBSU Tournament, securing two statement wins against San Francisco and Tarleton State. Arizona opened the day with a strong 4-1 victory over San Francisco before sweeping Tarleton State 5-0 to close out the tournament.

The Wildcats started the day with a 4-1 victory over San Francisco, showcasing strong performances across multiple courts.

Adriana Nieves Papaleo and Kate Phillips set the tone early, taking down McKenna Towne and Kaydence Stormes in straight sets (21-11, 21-17) to earn the first point for Arizona.

Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker were relentless on court three, dominating Branson Lennon and Burkleigh Smith with a 21-10, 21-13 victory.

Annie Kost and Elin Kaiser followed with another strong performance, overpowering Lucy Speier and Jacquelyn Strawn (21-16, 21-6) to secure Arizona's third point.

On court five, Meghan O'Meara and Brooke Boyko put together a solid match, sweeping Francesca Stanschus and Raine Stevens 21-15, 21-14 to give Arizona the fourth and final point.

The loss came in a hard-fought three-set battle, as Kylee Fitzsimmons and Brooke Blutreich pushed Letzia Aquilino and Rylie Reeves to the limit but fell just short (19-21, 21-16, 20-18).

The Sand Cats carried their momentum into their second match of the day, delivering a 5-0 sweep over Tarleton State.

Nieves Papaleo and Phillips continued their strong form, overpowering Emma Halcomb and Allison Bryant in straight sets (21-18, 21-14).

On court two, Fitzsimmons and Blutreich bounced back from their earlier loss, taking down Grayson Schirpik and Hayden Huber (21-18, 21-17).

Zilliken and Walker once again showed their dominance, handling Bella Parayno and Amaya Brown 21-17, 21-13.

Kost and Kaiser remained perfect on the day, making quick work of Olivia Fuentes and Charlize Ching with a 21-17, 21-9 win.

O'Meara and Boyko closed out the sweep, breezing past Sofia Bendele and Camilla Chun 21-8, 21-10.

Arizona returns home this week to host the Arizona Invitational on March 21 and 22 at Bear Down Beach.
