TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona hurdler
Zach Extine has been named Big 12 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, as announced today by the Conference.
Extine won the men's 110m hurdles last Saturday at the Desert Heat Classic, clocking an all-conditions school record and Drachman Stadium facility record time of 13.17 (+2.4). Extine's personal best time currently ranks first in the Big 12, second in the NCAA, and ninth in the world. Additionally, Extine clocked a personal best time in the men's 200m of 21.38.
The senior has dominated the 110m hurdles all outdoor season, posting times of 13.17, 13.49, 13.50, and 13.51. His non-wind-aided personal best from this season is 13.49, which ranks second in program history. Furthermore, Extine has won the 110m hurdles three times and has not finished lower than second place this season.
The Chandler, Arizona, native broke the school record in the indoor 60m hurdles three times, including at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, where he placed fourth overall.
The Wildcats will next be in action for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Lawrence, Kan., on May 15-17.
