Emma Gates claimed gold while
Paris Mikinski and
Kya Crooke followed with silver and bronze in their season openers, combining to post the top three high jump marks in the world this season at Friday night's Axe 'Em Indoor Meet, hosted by Northern Arizona in Flagstaff.
Gates won the event with a clearance of 1.89 meters (6-2.25), the current world-leading mark and the No. 1 jump in the NCAA this season. Mikinski and Crooke each cleared 1.86 meters (6-1.25) to finish second and third, tying for the second-best mark nationally and the third-best mark globally.
