ALBQUERQUE, N.M. – Arizona Track & Field completed the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational on Saturday. The two-day competition was hosted by New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
FRIDAY - The Wildcats posted six podium finishes on day one.
Top-Three Finishes
Emma Gates - First, Women's High Jump (1.88m)
Praise Chepkemoi - First, Women's 3000m (9:50.79)
John Paredes - First, Men's 200m (unseeded) (21.00)
Kelly De Jong - Second, Women's Pole Vault (3.94m)
Paris Mikinski - Second, Women's High Jump (1.82m)
James Onanubosi - Second, Men's 200m (invitational) (21.14)
Field Highlights
The Wildcats had two finishers in the top three in the women's high jump:
Emma Gates and
Paris Mikinski. The duo finished first and second overall, with Gates clearing a height of 6-2 (1.88m) and Mikinski clearing a height of 5-11.5 (1.82m). It's the second time this season that the pair has finished in the top three in the high jump at the same competition.
Kelly De Jong finished second in the women's pole vault, clearing a height of 12-11 (3.94m).
Olivia Clark finished fourth in the event, clearing a height of 12-5.25 (3.79m).
Ena McMahon also finished seventh, clearing a height of 11-11.25 (3.64m).
Track Highlights
In the men's 200m (unseeded),
John Paredes finished first with a time of 21.00. In the men's 200m (invitational),
James Onanubosi finished second with a time of 21.14.
Praise Chepkemoi finished first in the women's 3000m with a personal best time of 9:50.79.
SATURDAY - The
Wildcats added six more podium finishes. Day two also saw
Brooke Lyons break the Arizona women's indoor record in the 300m.

John Paredes - Third, Men's 60m (invitational) (6.75)
Field Highlights
Kennedy White finished ninth in the women's triple jump with a jump of 40-10.25 (12.45m).
Olivia Dillon finished fifth in the women's pole vault, clearing a height of 12-5.25 (3.79m).
Track Highlights
In the women's 300m,
Brooke Lyons broke an Arizona school record in the 300m running a time of 37.96 and finishing sixth. In the men's 300m,
Mason Lawyer finished in second with a time of 33.42.
Yan Vasquez also finished in fourth with a time of 34.24.
Bryson Nielsen finished first in the men's 800m, running a time of 1:50.83.
In the prelims for the men's 60m (invitational),
John Paredes finished seventh with a time of 6.75 and qualified for the finals. In the finals of the event, Paredes finished third, running a time of 6.75 again. In the men's 60m (unseeded),
Ari Dubin finished second, with a time of 6.82.
In the prelims for the men's 60m hurldes,
Parker Duskin finished third with a time of 7.85 and qualified for the finals. In the finals of the event, Duskin finished third, running a time of 7.81.
In the men's 1 mile, Lawi Ngetich finished third with a time of 4:02.99
