ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Arizona Track & Field will return to New Mexico on Friday and Saturday for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. The competition will feature some of the top teams in the nation and will be the first team scoring competition of the season for the Wildcats.
The meet will be hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center where the Wildcats competed earlier this season for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational. On Friday, the competition begins at 11:00 a.m. MST for field events and 3:30 p.m. MST for track events. On Saturday, both field and running events begin at 10:00 a.m. MST. The distance team competed in Boston last week, where five athletes posted new personal bests.
Praise Chepkemoi competed in the women's 5000m open and ran an indoor personal best time of 17:15.56. In the men's 1 mile invite,
Lawi Ngetich ran an indoor personal best time of 3:55.91,
Bryson Nielsen ran an indoor personal best time of 3:59.77, and
Vincent Gwachi ran an indoor personal best time of 4:00.10.
Michael Urbanski competed in the men's 5000m open and ran an indoor personal best time of 14:33.53. The last time the full team was in action was here in Albuquerque, where they posted twelve podium finishes over the two days.
