TUCSON, Ariz.– No. 19 Arizona Wildcats finished their weekend at the Sun Devil Classic with a 5-0 sweep over Nebraska to go 2-1 on the weekend.

Game 1 No. 19 Arizona 5, Nebraska 0

The Wildcats dominated against Nebraska, with two straight-set wins and 3 three-set wins. 

Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker came out strong for Arizona taking their match in three sets as the #2 pair, 21-23, 21-16, 15-8, giving the Cats an early 1-0 lead in the duel. Sophia Winter and Jamie Streit played well as the #4 pair, winning in straight sets, 23-21, 21-19, giving Arizona a 2-0 lead in the duel.

Brooke Boyko and Sadie Moore handled business, the #5 pair took the first set 21-14, and then took the second set 21-18, winning their match in straight sets and clinching the win for the Cats and giving Arizona a 3-0 lead. Regan Holmer and Carlie Cisneros carried on the momentum for Arizona winning their match in three sets, 23-21, 15-21, 17-15, extending the match lead to 4-0.

Tylee Shires and Adri Nieves Papaleo battled in a three set contest as the #3 pair, winning the first set 21-14, before dropping the second 25-27,  Shires and Nieves played a tough third and came out on top 16-14, to complete the sweep over Nebraska.

Arizona will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to compete in the Mustang Roundup next Friday and Saturday, Mar. 13-14, where the Cats will face Cal Poly (Fri.), CSUN (Fri.), Santa Clara (Sat.) and UC Davis (Sat.).
