Prior to Arizona
- Finished his high school career at the No. 35 overall recruit in the country according to 247Sports
- Was born in Nasville, Tenn., but moved to Goodyear, Ariz. when he was 10 years old
- Attended Millenium High School in Goodyear, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix, for all four years of high school
- As a senior, helped Millenium post a 15-2 record during the regular season and earn a Top 10 national ranking
- Helped Millenium to an appearance in the 5A state title game as a freshman and the Open Division championship game as sophomore
- Parents are DaRon Holmes and Tomika Steele-Holmes
- Older brother, DaRon II, was the No. 22 pick of the 2024 NBA Draft and is currently with the Denver Nuggets
- Played soccer and football before finding his way on the basketball court and says he began taking basketball seriously in eighth grade
- Was invited to training camp for USA Basketball U16, U17 and U19 junior national teams from 2023-25
- Averaged 11.4 points, 3.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds as a junior on the EYBL circuit
