Elizabeth Shelton is a freshman out of Edwards Air Force Base in California. After redshirting as a true freshman, Shelton has emerged as an important piece for Wildcats in 2017.

The 6-2 outside hitter has is averaging 2.38 kills/set, and has eclipsed double-digit kills in each of UA's last two matches.

ArizonaWildcats.com sat down with Shelton to discuss her volleyball experience at Arizona, both on and off the court.

What is your favorite thing to do off the court?
"My favorite thing to do off the court is eat and sleep. I don't have much time to myself, so when I get a few minutes I like to fuel up and rest."

What is the most important skill Coach Rubio has taught you over the last year?
"Coach Dave has taught me a lot on defense, specifically straightening my arms and swinging out to the ball to have good posture."

What is your favorite part about playing volleyball at Arizona?
"I love the comradery of the team. We all have a great relationship with each other. It is really great that we are all comfortable enough with each other to make jokes and talk smack but at the end of the day still come together as one unit."

Who is your favorite volleyball player (past or present)? Why?
"Misty May-Trainor is my favorite player. I used to go to beach volleyball camps when I was younger and she would always inspire me to work hard. I always heard about her work ethic and no matter what mistakes she made, she always worked hard, which is very admirable. Hard work and dedication is very important to me, and I strive to be as hard working as Misty May."

What is your pregame ritual?
"We enjoy hanging out together as a team before a game. We dance, talk to each other, and overall just have fun."
