TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona men's tennis easily defeated Northern Arizona Wednesday, 6-1. The Wildcats swept the doubles matches and won five of the six singles matches. The win improves Arizona to 6-8 overall, while Northern Arizona falls to 5-15 overall.

In doubles action, the Wildcats only lost four games en route to sweeping the Lumberjacks. Team captain junior Carl Hagman and sophomore Paul Warkentin defeated Jonas Jegers and Francisco Lando, 8-1. Clinching the point for Arizona was, sophomore Colin O'Grady and freshman Roger Matalonga who beat Fredrik Jeppsson and Thibault Schram, 8-1, at the No. 1 position. On court three, the freshmen duo of Daniel Andrus and Tim Mullane defeated Ronson Taylor and Daniel Lundstrom, 8-2.

Arizona continued its strong play during singles action. NAU's Fredrik Jeppsson won only a single game as Hagman defeated him, 6-1, 6-0. Warkentin beat Daniel Lundstrom, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 2 position. Clinching the match for Arizona was Andrus who defeated Jonas Jegers, 6-3, 6-4. Mullane earned his first dual match victory by defeating Francisco Lando in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. On court four, O'Grady fell to Jeremy Coll, 7-6, 6-4. Playing in the No. 3 slot for Arizona, Matalonga beat Thibault Schram, 7-6 (8), 6-1.

Arizona will be in action next as it hosts Oregon, Friday, April 2. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
