TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 25 Arizona men's tennis team earned its 10th win of the season Sunday, March 21, with a 6-1 victory over the Clemson Tigers. Arizona dropped two of the three doubles points before storming back and producing six singles victories. Arizona improved to 10-6 with the win, while Clemson falls to 16-7.

Arizona only managed to win one of the three doubles matches, giving Clemson its only point of the afternoon. On court one, junior Colin O'Grady and sophomore Roger Matalonga defeated the pair of Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins, 8-4. Senior Whi Kim and sophomore Tim Mullane battled Garon Sterijovski and Ryan Young falling, 9-8, on court three. The pair of junior Paul Warkentin and sophomore Daniel Andrus lost in a closely contested match, 9-7, on court two.

In singles action, Arizona lost only one set in windy conditions on its way to winning all six singles matches. Andrus made quick work of Clement Reix on court five. With fastidious and precise ball placements, Andrus cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Tied 1-1, Arizona quickly rattled off three wins. On court one, Matalonga defeated Thompson, 6-1, 7-5. On court six, Warkentin earned his 13th victory with a win over Young, 7-5, 6-0. Senior Tom Lloyd fell in the first set, 4-6, on court four before battling back in the second, 6-5. During the 12th game of the set, John Boetsch pulled his hamstring and was forced to retire from the match giving Lloyd the victory, 4-6, 6-5 def (inj).

With the match clinched, O?Grady and Kim continued to fight their Tiger opponents. O'Grady was next to finish, beating Sterjovski, 7-5, 6-3. Kim closed the match with a win over Jenkins, 7-6, 7-6.

Arizona will hit the courts next on Saturday, March 27, when they host intra-state rivals Arizona State.
