TUCSON, Ariz. – The Pac-12 Conference announced Thursday that senior Sheaffer Skadsen was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Skadsen is the first Wildcat to earn conference Scholar-Athlete of the year. This is second time this week she has earned conference honor. She was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention on Tuesday.

Skadsen has been a model student since she arrived on campus in 2012 and is set to graduate in December of 2016. She plans to start taking classes for dental school after she earns her degree. The Vancouver, Wash. native boasts a 4.0 GPA while majoring in public health. She has earned first-team Pac-12 Academic honors in 2013 and 2014 while also earning first team CoSIDA All-District 8 accolades in 2014 and 2015.

She has been a model of consistency on the pitch this season for the Wildcats. She has played in 1,741 of the 1,755 minutes this season, which is a team high, and has played every minute of the last 18 matches. She has also one of the two Wildcats to start in all 19 matches this season.

Not only does she thrive while playing defense, she has come up big in the clutch as well. She has scored twice this season, and both of them have been in the 84th minute or later and have both been equalizers as well. Her goals came against Texas Tech on Sept. 11 and Colorado on Oct. 30. Skadsen was also named Pac-12 Defesive Player of the Week back on Sept. 29 after Arizona shut out then ranked No. 21 Washington.

Skadsen and the Wildcats are set to host Northern Colorado in the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. MST. It is the first time that Arizona has hosted an NCAA Tournament match.
