TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior Sheaffer Skadsen was named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA on Tuesday along with 10 other top student-athletes across the country. Skadsen is one of the two Academic All-Americans that currently hold a 4.0 GPA (Mackenzie Dowd of Northeastern University).
Skadsen already has an impressive amount of academic accolades that she has collected in her time at Arizona. Just this year, she was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team for the third time in her career and was also named to the District 8 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team while majoring in Public Health.
The defender also had an outstanding career on the pitch. She played in a grand total of 71 matches and started 62 of them. She also played in 5,707 minutes and led the team in minutes played each of the last two seasons. Skadsen scored five career goals, three of them coming this season. She had a knack of coming up big in the clutch as her three goals this year came at big moments. She scored late equalizers against Texas Tech and Colorado and scored a penalty kick against Northern Colorado in the NCAA Tournament to put the match out of reach.
Skadsen will go down as not only one of Arizona soccer's most outstanding student-athletes, but one of the University of Arizona's premier student-athletes of all time.
