TUCSON, Ariz.--- A short-handed Arizona squad couldn't quite keep pace on Senior Day, as the Wildcats dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 62 Washington, Sunday out at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center, in what marked the final home match of the season.
As they've done so often this year, the Wildcats (8-17, 0-6 Pac-12) gave the Huskies (12-9, 2-4 Pac-12) all they could handle in doubles play. Viktor Farkas and Joao Barra defeated Jason Jaruvang and Matt Dunn 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. David Mushayev and Shoki Kasahara nearly took down the 48th ranked tandem in the country, but Emmett Egger and Jeff Hawke managed to rally for a 6-4 victory on court one to clinch the doubles point.
Will Kneale and Trevor James trailed 5-4 on court two before the match was abandoned.
Washington extended its lead to 2-0 in singles play, after Gal Hakak defeated David Mushayev 6-2, 6-2 from the No. 2 spot. Emmett Egger then earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jason Jaruvang to put the Huskies on the brink of victory.
Viktor Farkas then clinched the win for Washington, as he put together a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Trevor James from the No. 6 position to bring the final to 4-0.
Will Kneale was on the verge of claiming a win on court four, as he led 6-0, 5-5 before the match was called.
Arizona will wrap up the regular season at Utah, Saturday at 10 am PT.
