Tucson, Ariz. - Tenth-ranked Arizona sand volleyball went 2-0 in Boise as it competed in its last two matches of the regular season on Friday. The Wildcats got victories against Oregon (2-8) and Boise State, both 5-0.
UA improved to 18-3 on the year with the sweeps. Ten more wins than the 2014 season for the program.
Against Oregon, the Wildcats' swept downing the Ducks 5-0.
Arizona's No. 1 team of Madison and Mckenna Witt dominated against Kacey Nady and Maggie Scoot, (21-19, 21-12). No. 2 team of Madi Kingdon and Kaitlyn Leary got an easy win against Liz Brenner and Shelly Ashen, both sets (21-7). The Cats Rachel Rhoades and Kendall Polan got a victory over Taylor Agost and Serena Warner, (21-12, 21-15).
Taylor Lane and Taylor Arizobal defeated the Ducks No. 4 team of Frankie Shebby and Natalie Bookout Gonzalez going to three sets, (21-16, 14-21, 15-4). UA's No. 5 team of Sarah Seiber and Hailey Devlin secured the sweep getting a win over Roni LaPierre and Marine Hall-Poirier, (21-17, 21-3).
The Wildcats would go on to sweep Boise State, 5-0. Arizona was not a stranger to the Broncos as the Cats defeated the team earlier in the season, 5-0.
UA's Madi Kingdon and Kaitlyn Leary of the No. 1 team got a victory over Maddy O'Donnell and Hannah Hubbard in straight sets (21-12, 21-13). The No. 2 team of Madison and McKenna Witt defeated the Broncos team of Sierra Nobley and Sarah Baugh, (21-19, 21-13).
Kendall Polan and Rachel Rhoades took the court dominating over Boise State's No. 3 team of Katelyn Kinghorn and Aly Duffin (21-9, 21-11).
The Wildcats' No. 4 team of Taylor Lane and Taylor Arizobal defeated the Broncos team of Taylor Murphey and Laney Hayes, (21-17, 21-14)
Sarah Seiber and Olivia Macdonald, Arizona's No. 5 team went to three sets, but got a victory against Boise State's team of Maddi Osburn and Jaymee-lee Bulda, (22-24, 28-26, 15-10).
Arizona's exhibition team of Allie Cook and Emily Kiser closed out the match getting a straight set victory against Maddi Osburn and Laney Hayes, (21-13, 21-17).
UA had a very successful season going 18-3, winning all home matches and falling short in three competitive away matches against No.1 USC and Nebraska.
Though, the Wildcats ended its regular season on Friday, Madison and McKenna Witt along with Madi Kingdon and Kaitlyn Leary, make history as they both head to the Gulf Shores, Al., to compete in the AVCA Sand Pairs National Championship on May 1-3.
