TUCSON, Ariz— Arizona posted another solid performance on day two of the Wildcat Invitational Tournament, Saturday out at the Ventana Golf and Racquet Club, as Jason Jaruvang and Shoki Kasahara strung together their third consecutive victory in doubles play to earn a spot in Sunday's final. Jaruvang and Harry Busby will also play in the red draw singles final.
Jaruvang and Kasahara handily defeated Minnisota's Jessie Sprinkle and Justyn Levin 8-5, as they pushed through to the final in convincing fashion.
Matt Dunn and Trevor James also posted their second win as a tandem this weekend, pulling off an 8-5 victory over San Francisco's Ryan Marker and Christian Brockstedt to advance to the consolation final.
Newcomer Harry Busby kept his stellar play going with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Minnesota's Ruben Weber. Busby has now won each of his first two matches in straight sets and will play in the semifinals of the red draw tomorrow.
Joining Busby in red draw final is fellow Wildcat senior Jason Jaruvang. He earned a hard-fought victory over Rodolfo Jauregui from New Mexico in a close three set match. Jaruvang dropped the opening set, 6-3, but quickly regrouped and ended the match winning the final two sets, 6-3, 6-4 en route to the 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Jaruvang hopes to capture both a singles and doubles title tomorrow. Matches are set to begin at 9 a.m. out at the Ventana Golf and Racket club.
