TUCSON, Ariz – The final day of the Wildcat Invitational Tournament brought nothing but success for Arizona out at the out at the Ventana Golf and Racquet Club. The Cats continued to dominate the event as Shoki Kasahara and Jason Jaruvang captured the tournament's doubles championship, while Jaruvang also won the event's red flight title on Sunday afternoon.
Jaruvang and Kasahara continued to impress, as they kept up their strong doubles play going, claiming an 8-5 victory over Minnesota's Jessie Sprinkle and Justyn Levin to earn their fourth consecutive victory of the tournament and claim the title.
The tandem of Matt Dunn and Trevor James also finished things on a high note, grinding out an 8-6 victory over New Mexico State's Enrique Asmar and Nicholas Springer in the consolation bracket final. They end the tournament on a three-match win streak after dropping their opening contest.
Jaruvang kept his positive momentum rolling in singles action, as he defeated fellow teammate Harry Busby in a highly competitive three-set affair 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in what was an all-Wildcat final. Jaruvang end the competition going a perfect 4-0 in singles play and 8-0 overall on the weekend.
No. 37 Naoki Takeda will make his fall season debut next week as he'll compete in the prestigious ITA Men's All-American Championships, next Saturday in Tulsa Okla.
