PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Ninth-ranked Arizona fell to 25th-ranked Texas A&M 8-4 and Cal Poly 2-0 on Sunday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Game 1 - #25 Texas A&M 8, #9 Arizona 4
Junior Katiyana Mauga became the fastest player in school history to hit 50 career home runs when she hit her third-inning solo shot, but it was not enough as Arizona fell to No. 25 Texas A&M 8-4 on Saturday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Mauga's 50th career homer occured in her 129th career game, seven games faster than Arizona's all-time home run leader Stacie Chambers, who hit 87 career home runs from 2008-11.
The Wildcats managed 10 hits, the same number as Texas A&M, but UA stranded 10 runners to Texas A&M's three.
Danielle O'Toole, starting her third game against a top-25 opponent in as many days, allowed seven runs on nine hits with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched.
Nancy Bowling entered in relief and allowed just two base runners over 4.1 innings. The redshirt junior struck out seen of the 15 batters she faced while allowing one hit, a solo homer.
Texas A&M opened the scoring in the first. Keeli Milligan led the game off with a sifngle, stole second and then scored on Tori Vidales' single to put the Aggies on top after a half an inning.
Arizona tied the game in the bottom half when Mandie Perez and Eva Watson led off the frame with singles. Watson, though, was injured while beating out her bunt. Her replacement, Merrilee Miller, later scored on an Alexis Dotson groundout. UA would leave the bases loaded in the frame.
The Aggies retook the lead with a Kristen Cuyo home run in the top of the second.
Texas A&M broke the game open with four two-out runs in the third to chase O'Toole from the game and take a 7-1 lead.
Mauga hit her 50th career home run in the bottom of the third inning to cut Texas A&M's lead to 7-2.
Arizona inched closer in the fourth when Tamara Statman tripled in Bowling to make it 7-3.
After Arizona loaded the bases to bring the tying run to the plate in the fifth but came up empty, Texas A&M insured its lead one batter into the sixth with Samantha Show's second home run of the day.
Mauga added to her RBI total in the sixth with two-out single to plate Perez and make it 8-4.
Game 2 - Cal Poly 2, #9 Arizona 0
Arizona dropped its second game of the weekend to an unranked team as Cal Poly shutout the Wildcats 2-0.
UA managed just four hits against Cal Poly pitcher Sierra Hyland, who went the distance and struck out nine.p

Arizona put the leadoff runner on in four of the seven innings and advanced her into scoring position in all four of those innings, but could not score.
Cal Poly broke the scoreless tie with a trio of hits in the third and added on with a solo homer in the seventh.
