The Arizona women's tennis team will play two matches in Houston, Texas less than a week removed from their season opener. The 65th-ranked Wildcats will play against No. 44 Houston on Friday Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. MST a day before competing against No. 31 Rice University at 10 a.m. MST.
“We are very much looking forward to our match against Houston tomorrow,” said head coach Vicky Maes. “We played great tennis last week and hope to build on that momentum to get a significant road win here. Houston is a good team, and we'll have to battle hard, but after last weekend there is no doubt that we can compete on every court.”
Arizona is 2-1 on the season after two dominant home victories. On Friday Jan. 28 the Wildcats swept UTEP in their season opener before beating Princeton 6-1 the following day. Junior No. 64 Lauren Marker remains undefeated in singles play and will look to lead the Cats to victory against 0-5 Houston a day before taking on 2-1 Rice.
