Quintero Wins the Platform at NCAA Zone E Championships

Flagstaff, Ariz. – Arizona diving concluded the NCAA Zone E Championships with another victory on Wednesday. Senior, Rafael Quintero earned a first-place finish in the platform after winning the 1-meter on Tuesday.

Quintero finished first in the platform both in the prelims and final. The senior posted a final score of 853.05, 118.85 points ahead of the runner-up. During the Zone E Championships, Quintero earned a spot in all three diving events at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta.  

Dominic Ricotta took 10th in the event after scoring 664.40. Ricotta just missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships, as only the top-eight make it.  

For the women, Karolyn Loftus finished tenth in the platform with a score of 476.20, followed by Sally Hackett with 474.70. Both divers came up short for the NCAA Championships, since only the first nine qualify.

In the prelims of the platform, Kailtin Costello placed 22nd after scoring 214.05.  

Up Next: Arizona women's swimming and diving heads to Atlanta for the NCAA Championships. Competition begins on Wed. Mar. 16 and continues through Sat. Mar. 19.
