TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 9 ranked Arizona Sand Volleyball team picked up another win this afternoon against TCU, 4-1. UA closed out the day by gaining another victory against Cal Berkeley, 3-2.
The Cats got off to a strong start to the dual. Arizona's No. 5 team of Hailey Devlin and MacKenzie Kleespies took their match 21-15, 21-11, after defeating the Hornfrogs' Clare Ford and Blaire Pickens.
Arizona's No. 4 Freshman duo of Mia Mason and Sara Pantovic got off to a slow start, but caught up allowing them to take the match against Molly Sheel and Ariah Palter, 23-21, 21-15.
Meanwhile on court two, Wildcats' No.2 team of Jianna Bonomi and Katarina Schulz worked hard as they defeated Shane Peters and Olivia Canales in consecutive sets, 21-13, 21-13.
At the No. 1 position Madison and McKenna Witt owned court one and dominated against TCU's No.1 pair, Michelle McNamee and Sarita Mikals, 21-8, 21-8.
After an active three set rally, the No. 3 team of Olivia Macdonald and Sam Manley suffered a loss against the Hornfrogs' Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene duo.
In an exhibition match, Arizona's No. 6 team of Freshman Tyler Lucas, Kalei Mau, and Nikki Attea earned a victory against Bridget Odmark and Ashley Quintilone, 21-17, 21-18.
The Wildcats closed out the evening with another win, defeating fellow Pac-12 school, Cal Berkeley, 3-2.Arizona got off to a speedy start in the first round with the No. 4 team of Sara Pantovic and Mia Mason taking the court in three sets, defeating former teammate Rachel Wilson and Teya Neff 21-16, 14-21, 15-10.
The No. 5 team of Hailey Devlin and Mackenzie Kleespies took the match to three sets, but fell to Cal's duo of Emily 21-7, 9-21, 13-15,.
After an intense rally on court two, having to go into three sets, the No. 2 pair of Jianna Bonomi and Kalei Mau suffered a loss to Bryce Bark and Kory Lamet, 18-21, 24-22, 10-15.
No. 1 team of Madison and McKenna earned the victory on court one as they defeated the Bears pair of Mia Merino and Sarah Cole, 21-12, 21-10.
On court three, No. 3 team Sam Manley and Olivia Macdonald dominated against Cal's Olivia Rodberg and Grace Campbell, 21-14, 21-16.
In a strong exhibition match, the No. 6 team of Nikki Attea and Tyler Lucas defeated Sammy Furlan and Andie O'Donnell, taking it to three sets, 21-14, 21-23, 15-12.
The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow as they compete against Loyola Marymount at 11 a.m. MST.
