LAS VEGAS – Arizona completed its final tournament action of the fall at the Rebel Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. on Sunday, Nov. 12. Â
Â
"The weekend didn't go as well as I would have liked to see," said head coach
Vicky Maes. "We made too many poor decisions and backed ourselves into some difficult corners. Regardless, we did manage to put up a few good wins and we made progress in the doubles. I just feel we made it hard on ourselves and we won't be able to get away with that in the spring."
Â
Arizona's competitors included
Camila Wesbrooks,
Devin Chypyha, Gitte Heynemans, and
Sophia Thomas.
Â
In doubles, Chypyha/Wesbrooks won the Flight #1 consolation final 8-4 over Bridges/Moldovan of NC State. Heynemans/Thomas won the Flight #2 third place match over Texas A&M's Faa Hviding/Taylor 8-7.
Â
In singles, Chypyha lost the Flight #1 consolation final 6-4, 7-5 to Adriana Reami (NC State). Wesbrooks was defeated by Ena Babic of Purdue 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 in the Flight #2 consolation final. Heynemans won against GCU's Emilia Occhipinti 6-1, 7-5 in the Flight #3 third place match. Thomas lost a 6-4, 7-6 match to Purdue's Zala Dovnik in the Flight #4 third place match.
