TUCSON, Ariz.– No. 8 Arizona Wildcats concluded the Wildcat Spring Challenge tournament on Saturday afternoon as they earned victories against CSU Bakersfield, (5-0) and Grand Canyon, (4-1). UA went (4-0) in the BearDownBeach hosted tournament, advancing the team record to (11-6).
The Beach Cats No. 1 pair of Madison and
McKenna Witt and No. 2 duo of
Hailey Devlin and
Sam Manley lead the team with a (13-4) and (14-3) record respectively.
To begin morning play, UA swept CSUB in straight sets. Due to a medical forfeit by CSUB, the No. 5 team of
Halli Amaro and
Brooke Burling picked up an automatic win to start the match.
Mia Mason and
Kendra Dahlke, the Wildcats No. 4 tandem dominated against the Roadrunner's pair of Emily Lopes and Hannah Manzanares, (21-9, 21-11). The No. 1 twin duo of Madison and
McKenna Witt earned a victory against Sara Little and Carol Grasso, (21-8, 21-18). To secure the win, No. 2 UA pair of
Hailey Devlin and
Sam Manley defeated Ashley Prater and Sarah Garrow, (21-13, 21-17). To close out the match against CSUB, the Wildcats tandem of
Olivia Hallaran and
Olivia Macdonald picked up another win for Arizona as they took down Jocelyn Rodriguez and Madi Busler, (21-17, 21-4).
The Wildcats would then go on to defeat GCU to close out the tournament. The No. 4 team of
Hailey Devlin and
Sam Manley would be the first team to pick up a win for Arizona as they downed Jessica Stansfield and Rebecca Conrad, (21-15, 21-10). Madison and
McKenna Witt of the No.1 pair battled it out against the Lopes' and earned a victory against Olivia Unnasch and Molly Turner in consecutive sets, (21-19, 20, 22). After a hard fought battle the No. 3 tandem of
Olivia Hallaran and
Olivia Macdonald took the match to three sets and defeated Hannah Towne and Jordyn Sanchez in the third set to take the match, (21-13, 14-21, 15-9). GCU's Jessica Clark and Kelli Iverson picked up a win against the No. 4 UA pair
Mia Mason and
Kendra Dahlke as they took the match to three sets, (22-20, 15-21, 6-15). The No. 5 duo of
Halli Amaro and
Brooke Burling battled it out in a three-set match and picked up a win against Emily Reinking and Tyanna Roy, (21-19, 23-25, 15-9).
"We need to embrace the competition", said head coach
Steve Walker. "We have so far, against some high profile programs and we're going to continue to do that and elevate our game in practice like we can and show up ready to take no prisoners."
 Arizona will head back on the road next weekend as they travel to the coast to compete in the UCLA Invite April 8-9.
