SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- No. 14 Utah walked off with game 3, 3-2 at Dumke Family Stadium.
Danielle O'Toole allowed just three runs in the complete-game, eight strikeouts, but the offense could not support her solid effort in the circle.
Mandie Perez led off the top of the first with a four-pitch walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Dejah Mulipola. With two out and two strikes,
Mo Mercado singled to left on the seventh pitch of the at-bat to plate Perez from second and give Arizona the early advantage.
Two infield singles and a blooper loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of the first for the Utes. A sacrifice fly and a pop up that found grass in the outfield made it 2-1 Utah.
The Cats tied the game on an error in the second inning.
The offenses went quiet for the next four innings.
In the seventh,
Hillary Edior hit a pinch-hit, 0-2 double to put the go-ahead run in scoring position with one out. Arizona would eventually load the bases with two out, but couldn't score.
The Utes picked up their first two hits since the second inning and walked off with the victory in the bottom of the seventh.
