Wildcats Fall 4-3 to No. 35 Huskies

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona (9-12) tried to pull off an upset over No. 35 Washington (12-6) on Friday, Apr. 7 in Tucson, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss.

Arizona started off strong in doubles, where seniors Will Kneale and Oliver Plaskett took down Washington sophomore Piers Foley and junior Jake Douglas in a hard fought match on court one (6-3). Freshman Andres Reyes and junior Shoti Meparidze couldn't best freshman Amit Batta and senior Wendell Watanabe on court three, falling in Reyes' first home doubles match by a score of 6-4. With the doubles point at stake, juniors Shoki Kasahara and Trent Botha took down Washington sophomores Enzo Sommer and Kawika Lam (7-5).

Washington tied the match at 2-2 with Mitch Stewart's 7-5, 6-2 win over Meparidze. The Cats regained the lead with Kneale's 7-5, 6-4 victory over Sommer.
