TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona men's tennis team will kick off the regular season with a double header at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center on Wednesday, January 17. The Wildcats will face Arizona Christian University (10 a.m. MST) and Ottawa University Arizona (2 p.m. MST).
Â
"I'm excited to get going tomorrow," said head coach
Clancy Shields. Almost half of our team has never played a college match, so I'm looking to get our young guys' feet wet. The first college match is always a tricky one, and tomorrow will give us an opportunity to play in a match situation."
Â
The Wildcats head into dual play after a successful 2017 season in which the entire team earned a singles winning percentage of .500 or more. The matches will be the first of the regular season for all teams as well as Ottawa University's first match in program history.
Â
"The guys have worked hard during the preseason and have come together as a tight knit group," said Shields. "We have some lofty goals this season which will require a tremendous amount of effort from all of us, and we are very eager to get started."
