NORMAN, Okla. -- The weekend double-header in Oklahoma ended in a split for the Wildcats.
 
The No. 43 ranked doubles team in the nation drew first blood in the morning match as Oklahoma's sophomore pairing of Adrian Oetzbach and Jochen Bertsch defeated the freshman pairing Igor Karpovets and Carlos Hassey (UA) 6-3. The Sooners clinched the doubles point when freshman Jake Van Emburgh and junior Ferran Calvo beat Arizona freshman Aaro Pollanen and junior Jonas Maier 6-3.
 
The doubles match between the Arizona pairing of sophomore Alejandro Reguant and freshman Filip Malbasic and the Oklahoma pairing of junior Aleksandre Bakshi and freshman James Davis went unfinished as Oklahoma had already secured the doubles point.
 
In singles action, Oetzbach made it 2-0 Sooners by knocking off Reguant 6-1, 6-4. Hassey responded for the Wildcats with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Oklahoma freshman Max Stewart.
 
Bakshi emerged victorious in a three-set battle with Karpovets (6-1, 3-6, 7-5). Bertsch finished off the Oklahoma victory with a 7-6(3), 6-2 win over Malbasic.
 
Pollanen and No. 17 ranked Ferran Calvo were in the third set when the match was called. Maier was up a set when his match against van Emburgh was called.
 
The afternoon doubles session came down to the final doubles match, as Abilene Christian clinched the point thanks to a 7-5 victory from sophomore Jonathan Sheehy and senior Henry Adams over Arizona's Pollanen and Maier.
 
ACU's first doubles win came from senior Paul Michael Domanski and junior Josh Sheehy as they defeated the Hassey/Karpovets pairing 6-0. Arizona's sole doubles victory on the day came in the form of a 6-2 Malbasic/Reguant win over senior Brad Gleason and junior Cole Lawson of ACU.
 
Singles play came down to the wire, and it took a three-set Malbasic win over ACU senior Hunter Holman (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) to clinch a 4-3 victory for Arizona. The Wildcats also got wins from Reguant, Maier, and Hassey. Hassey won both of his singles matches on the day, and never dropped a set.
 
The victory moves Arizona to (3-1) on the season.

The Wildcats take on the University of San Francisco on Friday, Jan. 26th and then host another double-header on Sunday against Troy and Saint Mary's.
