TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Wildcats collected two more wins on Saturday to improve their season record to 8-4.
 
The day began with Cats earning the doubles point against NAU. Arizona senior Trent Botha and freshman Filip Malbasic made quick work of their match, winning by a score of 6-1. Junior Jonas Maier and sophomore Alejandro Reguant secured the doubles point by beating Northern Arizona's Schumann/Steele pairing 6-2.
 
The Wildcats won the first three singles matches to finish the match at 4-0 in their favor. Reguant and Malbasic extended their winning streaks, and Maier won his match 6-3, 6-3 to round out the singles results. The rest of the singles matches went unfinished.
 
Arizona took on the undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers in the afternoon match, and once again took the doubles point to start the match. The Maier/Reguant pairing rolled to victory once again, and the freshman pairing of Carlos Hassey and Igor Karpovets secured the point for the Cats with their 6-4 victory over Toby Boyer and Linus Erhart of Nebraska.
 
The story of singles play once again was the continued domination of Malbasic, Reguant, and Maier. All three won in straight sets for the second time on the day. Trent Botha earned the the Cats' fifth point with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Dylan Bednarczyk.
 
"We got two good wins," said head coach Clancy Shields. "We were 1-7 in doubles going into today, and we took both of them. We've made improvements there, which I'm happy about. Trent has been awesome. A couple weeks ago, he wasn't even in the lineup. He's made a commitment, and he's improved a lot, and look he's winning on the number two court against a good player. We've got a lot of work to do, but the kids are getting better, and we're trying to get them tougher. We've got three weekends coming up on the road, so we'll see if we've improved a little bit and can make a dent on those tournaments."
 
Arizona plays in the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Alabama next week, where they will look to build off this momentum.
