TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona Wildcats travel to Iowa this weekend for three more matches. The Saturday slate includes matches against South Dakota State and Drake in Des Moines before the Cats face off against Iowa in Iowa City on Sunday.
The Wildcats are coming off a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Indiana last Sunday. South Dakota State will be looking for their first win of the season after an 0-4 start. This will be the first meeting all-time between the Wildcats and the Jackrabbits. The Drake Bulldogs are 4-4 on the season and 1-1 all-time versus the University of Arizona.
"We are looking forward to rebounding after our loss last week," said head coach
Clancy Shields. "We have been improving our doubles and fitness this week. I would like to see us take a big step in the right direction in those areas. Drake and Iowa are both top 50 programs, and we will need to bring our best this weekend."
The Cats take on Iowa on Sunday, a school that they have historically dominated (11-0 all-time). The Hawkeyes have lost four in a row after winning their season opener.
Filip Malbasic and
Alejandro Reguant have not lost a singles match since January 20
th and look to keep that trend going this weekend.
